Vernon Lee "Whitey" Williford

Vernon Lee “Whitey” Williford, 83, of Hackett, Arkansas, formally of the Jenson Community, passed away Friday, October 22, 2021 in his home. He was born in Cedars, Oklahoma on February 19, 1938 to Charles Everett and Mary Eliza (Kerr) Williford.

Vernon graduated from Hackett High School in 1958 and worked for Scott Glass Company and the Sebastian County Road Department. He was a citizen of the Cherokee Nation. He was a big fan of boxing, NASCAR, football and Jeopardy.

He was preceded in death by his parents; two infant brothers, Charles Thomas and Everett Jr. Williford; his grandparents, Tom and Ella (Ulmer) Kerr and Tollie and Mary Jane (Lee) Williford and brother-in-law, Lynn Reeves.

He is survived by two sisters; Linda Gamble and husband, Johnny of Hackett and Kathy Reeves and friend, Rex Lennier of Hackett; nephew, Bryan Gamble and wife, Terrie of Greenwood; two nieces, Lori Greer of Fort Smith and Kelly Dominguez and husband, Stephen of Carlsbad, New Mexico; two great nieces, Sydnie Gamble and Eliza Dominguez; two great nephews, Jack Greer and Solomon Dominguez; his many cousins and his beloved little dog, Susie. He was partial to a close cousin he grew up with, Gilbert Stone of Poteau.

Graveside service will be held 10 a.m., Thursday, October 28 at Vinita Cemetery in Hackett under the direction of McConnell Funeral Home of Greenwood. Viewing will be Wednesday from 12 – 6 p.m. at the funeral home, where the family will visit with friends from 4 – 6 p.m.
