Andrew James Elwood

Andrew James Elwood, 20, of Corbett OR, passed away on Sunday, August 5, 2012 after a long battle with brain cancer. He was born on February 6, 1992 to Matt and Rachel (Smith) Elwood. After the death of his mother, he was raised by Scott and Sarah Pitts of Corbett, Oregon. He graduated from Corbett High School in 2010 with a 4.0 grade average. He earned a full ride scholarship with the Air Force ROTC program and attended Oregon State University where he was working toward a dual engineering degree. Drew had a black belt in Jujitsu and enjoyed music, playing guitar and attending the most recent Nickelback Concert. He loved target shooting and collecting knives.

He is survived by Scott and Sarah Pitts of Corbett OR; sisters Jennifer King of Gresham OR, Sarah May Harney of Canby OR and McKenzie Pitts of Corbett OR; brother Branden Pitts of Portland OR and several aunts, uncles, god-parents and grandparents.

A Memorial Service will be held at 1:30pm on Friday, August 10, 2012 at the Corbett High School Auditorium in Corbett, Oregon with a private interment at Sandy Ridge Cemetery. Donations may be made to the National Rifle Association or to the Republican National Party. Arrangements entrusted to Bateman Carroll Funeral Home in Gresham, Oregon.
