

Barbara Mariese was born on August 26, 1961, to Mary and Niels Sorensen. She was the youngest of five children and was affectionately referred to as “Puppy” by her older siblings. She was preceded in death by her parents and older brothers, Joseph and Tom. She is survived by her husband, Hector, of thirty-three years; two daughters, Amanda (grandchildren, Bailey, Kayson and Blaek), and Katy (grandchildren, Peter and Ellie). She also leaves behind her older sister, Patricia; older brother, Steve; and younger brother (nephew), Ed.
Barbara was born and raised in the Portland area, graduating from Centennial High School in 1979. She met and married Hector Diaz in August of 1990 and together they built a family. They moved around the Portland area but finally settling in Gresham where they resided for the last 19 years, where she and Hector raised their girls and numerous cherished dogs. She leaves behind her beloved dogs, Queen and Cruz.
Anyone who met Barbara knew she was very proud of her education and numerous accomplishments. She was also very audacious and extremely loquacious. She was not afraid to speak her mind and was very ambitious. She loved fashion and coordinating outfits. She leaves behind her expansive wardrobe and shoe collection.
She passed away in her sleep on the 2nd of March at the age of 62. Her family and friends can all agree she was a force to be reckoned with. She left this world too soon but leaves behind a legacy of memories. We wish her peace on the next part of her journey.
