

Bradley Leymoine Gates, 95 of Portland OR, passed away on Monday, November 29, 2010. He was born on December 19, 1914 in Vancouver, Washington to Leymoine O. and Eva L. (Campbell) Gates. He was a graduate of Benson Polytechnic High School and was a veteran of the US Navy serving with the Seabees during World War II. He married Harriet V. Christey on August 14, 1938 in Portland, Oregon and moved to Gresham in 1943. He worked as an apprentice plumber for 5 years and then worked for Widmer Plumbing for 38 years before his retirement in 1976. He was a member of the Luncheon Club, Extension Club, Stars & Garters and Spurs & Hers Square-dancing Clubs and Widmer’s Plumbers Bowling League for many years. He enjoyed traveling around the world and building homes.
He was preceded in death by his wife Harriet. He is survived by his son Jim Gates and wife Shawn of Portland OR; daughter Vicki Morris and husband William of Salem OR; grandchildren Cari Cook, Tamara Gates, Scott Gates, Brent Lenahan, Bradley Gates Jr, William Morris Jr, Edwin Morris, Jessica Goshert and Jacob Smith; great grandchildren Jessica Cook, Jake Rayburn, Felicia Bilyeu, Lindsey Cook, Makenzie Goshert and Samantha Gates and great-great grandson William Cook.
A Service of Remembrance will be held on Tuesday, December 7, 2010 at 11:00am at Bateman Carroll Funeral Home, 520 W. Powell Blvd in Gresham. Contributions may be made to St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital.
