

Christie Fay Gardner, 93 of Gresham OR, passed away on Friday, December 3, 2010. She was born on December 25, 1916 at 11:30am in Neosho, Missouri, the eighth of 12 children born to John and Mable Clark. Her brother Cecil named her Christie Fay because she was born on Christmas Day. She married Charles Gardner on December 25, 1936 at 11:30am, 20 years after her birth. They had a daughter Audry Lois and 22 months later a son Charles Clark. They moved to Stevenson WA in 1940 where her husband’s family lived and later to the Gresham area where she lived the rest of her life. In 1956 Christie and Charles added daughter Kathy Kay.
Christie worked many years in the 1940’s and 1950’s cutting up chickens at Colson’s & Bridgemon Brothers Poultry processing plants in S.E. Portland. She worked at Colson’s plant when the first chickens were processed and wrapped in cellophane. She was affiliated with the Veterans of Foreign Wars auxiliary and in 1987 was featured in the Outlook for her volunteer work visiting the elderly at the Village Convalescent Center. She moved in 2000 to Huntington Terrace and in 2010 to the Village until she passed away.
She was preceded in death by her husband in 1967 and her son Chuck in October of 2010. She is survived by her daughters Audry Estes of Canby OR and Kathy Blanchard (Del) of Newberg OR; daughter-in-law Deejee Mitchell of Fairview OR; sisters Mary Barnhart of Portland OR, Nora Sanders of Osburn ID and Georgia Horton of Buffalo WY; 8 grandchildren, 19 great grandchildren and 5 great-great grandchildren.
