Christine Michelsen never had the chance to reach her full potential. This world, because of sin, dealt her the cruel blow of mental illness, and a life of imprisonment internally and externally because of it. In this life she wasn’t capable of being what I’m sure she would want to be, and others may not have been able to see much past her limitations to enjoy her in the way I know she would have liked.
But God knew her. He knew her full potential without her disease. He saw the beautiful person she was inside. He knew her heart. And when Jesus returns to take this child of His with Him home, we’ll actually get to meet the real her for the first time. And I can’t wait. We saw glimpses of Christine’s sweet, pure, and generous soul. She never meant any harm to anyone. She wanted to make others happy and did all she could within her limitations to do just that. And she loved God, who I know loves her, so there’s no reason to grieve, as she now sleeps pain free and safe from the harshness of this world.
The Bible says in Romans 8:38-39:
“For I am sure that neither death nor life, nor angels nor rulers, nor things present nor things to come, nor powers, nor height nor depth, nor anything else in all creation, will be able to separate us from the love of God in Christ Jesus our Lord.” And in 1 Thessalonians 4:13-14 it says: “Brothers and sisters, we do not want you to be uninformed about those who sleep in death, so that you do not grieve like the rest of mankind, who have no hope. For we believe that Jesus died and rose again, and so we believe that God will bring with Jesus those who have fallen asleep in him.”
We believe God’s grace is sufficient for all, including Christine, whose deeds were good, and that she’ll be saved.
Romans 6:23 says: “For the wages of sin is death, but the free gift of God is eternal life in Christ Jesus our Lord.
And Revelation 14:13 says: “Then I heard a voice from heaven say, “Write this: Blessed are the dead who die in the Lord from now on.” “Yes,” says the Spirit, “they will rest from their labor, for their deeds will follow them.”
Christine was a good person. And when Jesus returns I’m sure we’ll get to see Christine, beautiful and clear-minded for the first time in her life, meet Jesus in the clouds before we’re caught up to meet Him in the air: In 1 Thessalonians 4:17-18 it says: “After that, we who are still alive and are left will be caught up together with them in the clouds to meet the Lord in the air. And so we will be with the Lord forever. Therefore encourage one another with these words.”
A private family graveside service for Christina will be held Tuesday, February 15, 2022 at 10:30 AM at Forest Lawn Cemetery, 400 SW Walters Rd, Gresham, Oregon.
