Deloris (Dodie) L. Vinson, 85, of Troutdale passed away Feb. 6, 2017. She was born in La Crosse, Wis. to Eugene and Sena (Hellerud) Reuter Dec. 1, 1931. She was raised with two siblings Anita and Clarence. The family moved to Fairview, Ore. when Dodie's father was offered work at the aluminum plant in Troutdale, Ore. During World War II. Dodie graduated from Gresham High School in 1948 and was a member of the GHS bowling team.
Dodie met the love of her life, Cecil Vinson, in the early 1940s. They were married Sept. 16, 1950. Together they raised three daughters Darlene, Nancy and Patti Jo. Dodie had a natural skill for drawing; she thoroughly enjoyed working on art projects such as oil and water color paintings, pencil sketches and portraits. She was a prolific letter writer, and was quick to respond to the letters she would get from friends and family from across the country. She also collected salt and pepper shakers, spoons, and was an avid reader. She was especially fond of the works of Louis L’Amour.
Dodie was a homemaker and held a deep love and commitment for her family. As a mom she was involved in and present for all of the activities in which her daughters were involved. Whether it was camping at Badger Creek, hunting with her husband, cheering her children on at a sporting event, or volunteering with the PTA or the precinct during the elections; she made the time and she was there. Dodie was preceded in death by her husband Cecil; parents Eugene and Sena; and siblings Anita and Clarence. She is survived by her children Darlene (Tim), Nancy, and Patti Jo (Tim); grandchildren Lucas, Erin, Conor and Kaylee (Jacob); and three great grandchildren Brooklyn, Kane and Gage. She will be deeply missed. A memorial gathering will be held at a later date.
