Dennis was born February 29, 1960 in Long Beach, California. It was a special day for a special guy. Celebrating only 16 actual birthdays he was 65 years old when he went home to Heaven, November 20, 2025.
Dennis loved life, and being an Eagle Scout, he loved fishing, camping and hunting. He Especially loved going after the Salmon anywhere they were running no matter how far away, even as far as Alaska which he traveled to twice to work in the lodges and once even tried his hand on a fishing boat up there.
Dennis was focused and enjoyed everything he did, especially his passion for cooking, and at age 14 Dennis became a dough boy for a well-known Hotel in downtown Portland which fueled that passion. Dennis went on to attend The Culinary Institute of America in Hyde Park, New York and a part of his education, was a trip to Paris to learn more of the art of Saucier and Seafood.
Although Dennis’ dream of opening a beautiful Bistro never came to fruition, his Five Star Skills shone every place he cooked. Daggett’s of Tolovana was his joy and where he could truly “Glory Cook”, excelling in taking the Lead while presenting delectable plates of Seafood to locals and the Celebrities alike. He once cooked for Ann and Nancy Wilson.
Dennis loved to make people happy with the beautiful food he cooked for them.
Dennis liked all classic rock and roll, but especially Journey who he took us to see.
Dennis Loved all the colors Blue, especially when it was attached to a Mustang, or a beautiful Motorcycle with a double seat for us to ride together. He would ride like the wind, and his heart would race with him. Dennis was a beautiful soul who loved the beautiful things in the world. I would catch him gazing at mountains and stars. He loved finding heart shaped rocks and would give them to me when we were out fishing. He even found some painted ones. He would bring me Hershey kisses for a kiss. He had a heart of gold, and it shone brightly for me. It always will. His kindness was immeasurable and he had a great sense of humor. Dogs and Cats loved him as well as the butterflies that landed on him when we fished. He once had an Eagle land next to him, waiting to take his fish. He said, “good luck.”
Dennis leaves behind a son, Michael Patrick Grieson of Seaside, his mom, Janet Grieson of Green Valley, AZ., his brother Bryant and wife Susan of Las Vegas, NV., and his sister Robin and husband Nathan Hausser of Mansfield, TX., many nieces and nephews, and his Partner of 22 years, Kelli Ann Lord of Boring, OR., as well as Kelli’s grown kids and 11 grandchildren.
Dennis is preceded in death by his dad, Robert Grieson and his brother, Tracy Grieson
