Elizabeth Bertha Smith

Elizabeth, better known as Betty, was born in Lynn, Massachusetts on March 24, 1931, to her parents, Arthur and Elizabeth Jolly. She spent the earlier part of her life on the East Coast, where her first two daughters, Lin and Janie, were born. She later moved to the West Coast, where she welcomed her third daughter, Darlene. Betty worked for many years as a bookkeeper in various industries before retiring to the foothills of Oregon’s Mt. Hood, where she became a beloved member of the Welches and Sandy communities.

Betty leaves behind a large and deeply loved family, including her three daughters, eight grandchildren, thirteen great-grandchildren, and three great-great-grandchildren, all of whom brought her immense joy.

A memorial service will be held from 12 p.m. to 3 p.m. on December 20, 2025, at the Sandy Community and Senior Center, where family and friends are invited to gather in remembrance.

Betty will be laid to rest at Forest Lawn Cemetery in Gresham, Oregon.
