Evelynn Louise Pennington passed away on March 5, 2024 at 95 years old. She was born on August 15,1928 to Joel (Joe) and Isabel Padgett at Wichita Hospital in Wichita, Kansas.
Evelynn grew up alongside her very best friend and sister Joann on their family farm in Murdock. Evelynn graduated from Cheney High School and worked as a beautician until she married Clinton Brickely and welcomed their first son, Steven. Evelynn, Clint and Steve moved to California to start a new life. Soon after, they completed their family with the birth of their second son, Randall.
Many years later, Evelynn was married to her second husband, Paul Pennington. Evelynn began a career in banking and spent her years at Great Western Savings Bank, excelling up to branch manager. Evelynn and Paul loved square dancing and traveled all over the country to attend conventions. She was fortunate to retire early from the banking industry to spend more time traveling with her husband. Evelynn and Paul remarkably visited (almost) every single state in the USA. Evelynn and Paul retired in the warmth of Bullhead City, Arizona. After retirement Evelynn volunteered at the library in Bullhead City. She enjoyed playing cards with friends and neighbors, going to church, and belonged to the Red Hat Society.
Paul struggled with Dementia the last twenty years of his life. Evelynn, lovingly and patiently cared for Paul by herself the rest of his years. One year after Paul’s passing, Evelynn moved to Vancouver, Washington to be closer to her family. She enjoyed living in an independent Community for over 9 years before moving to an assisted living facility in 2023 for additional care.
In December 2020, tragedy hit when Evelynn’s oldest son Steve passed away in Thailand, where he married and lived many years of his life. Then again in August 2022, when Randy passed away in the home he built and lived in with his wife for more than 30+ years in Skamania, Washington.
Evelynn made her last move, to an Adult Family Home just fifteen days before she passed away with Kidney Disease.
Evelynn was survived by her granddaughter (Valerie McCoy), 2 great-granddaughters (Stephanie Adams and Tori Garriott), 5 great-great-grandchildren, her nephew (Tracy Hurn), great niece (Amber) in addition to her 3 children, her daughter-in-law (Eda Brickley) her 2 children Randy Geyman and Jackie Carroll, and 3 grandchildren Michelle, Michael, and Jade.
Family meant so much to Evelynn and she often requested professional photos of them to frame in her home, if not a photo shoot with them. She spent her 95th birthday party themed in sunflowers in her granddaughter's backyard with her family posing for all the group photos she desired. Photos that are now memories that each of us will forever cherish. Evelynn was so dearly loved and will be deeply missed. She was an amazing women.
