Mr. Gerald Frederick Blank

Gerald was born on June 14, 1924 in Toledo, Ohio and he was the son of William and Elizabeth (Held) Blank. He graduated from Central Catholic High School in Toledo, Ohio and enlisted in the United States Army. He honorably served our country during WWII receiving an honorable discharge at the rank of Private First Class.

On August 9, 1947, he married Clara Walsh in Toledo, Ohio. Gerald worked for Dana Corporation and served as the President of Toledo St. Clements Credit Union. He was transferred to Portland in 1968 and retired in 1985. After retirement, Gerald was the President of Summerplace from 1990-1992 and in 1993, he moved to Gresham.

Gerald was a member of St. Henry Catholic Church and the Gateway Elks. He enjoyed boating, gardening and studying history. He also enjoyed hiking in the Gorge, cross country skiing and was a member of the Mt. Hood Community College Choir. His greatest love however, was his family.

He is survived by daughters, Alice Freuler of Gresham, Marcia Nado of Troutdale, Annie Allen of Troutdale and Nancy Filippino of Wichita, Kansas, sons, David Blank of Happy Valley, Peter Blank of Vancouver and Joseph Blank of Molalla and sister, Rita Bambis of Toledo, Ohio along with 10 grandchildren and 3 great grandchildren.

Recitation of the Rosary will be on Monday, November 12, 2012 at 7:00 pm at Bateman Carroll Funeral Home. A funeral mass will be held on Tuesday, November 13, 2012 at 11:00 am at St. Henry Catholic Church. Entombment will follow at Gethsemani Catholic Cemetery. Contributions may be made in memory of Gerald to ASPCA or St. Vincent De Paul at St. Henry Catholic Church. Bateman Carroll Funeral Home is handling the arrangements.
