

Harry Pendus passed away on November 14, at his home in Portland,Oregon, at the age of 77. He was born on May 18, 1934, in Philadelphia. Pa. Harry attended Olney High School in Philadelphiawhere he was active with the stage and lighting crew, an interest he never lost. He joined the U.S. Air Force on his 17th birthday. He served his country for four years, first training as a flight engineer in Tillamook, Oregon , and later flying air/sea rescue in Greenland during the Korean Conflict.
After his military service he returned to Philadelphia and completed his education at Temple University,in engineering. He worked for the Burroughs Corp. in the missile program at Cape Canaveral, Florida, and then joined IBM as a systems engineer. He traveled the country and abroad on IBM projects from their offices adjacent to N ASA at The Johnson Space Center. He retired from IBM in 1992.Harry was a member of the St. Christopher Episcopal Church in League City, Texas. After moving to Oregon he became a member of St. Aidan's Episcopal Church in Gresham where he served on the Vestry. Travel was his passion. He was a gourmet cook, and an avid reader.
Survivors include his companion, Gloria Morris and her family,daughter Tracy Pendus, cousin Faye Harcarik of Denver and her family. Harry was preceded in death by his mother Julie, and his son David.
The funeral service was held on Saturday, November 19, at Bateman Carroll Funeral Home in Gresham. Memorial donations may be made to St. Aidan's Episcopal Church, 17405 N.E. Glisan St. Portland, Oregon, 97230.
