

Gresham resident Harvey Harle Hunt passed away on July 1, 2010. He was 84. A memorial service will be held at 12:30 PM on Friday, July 9 at Bateman Carroll Funeral Home. Committal service with Military Honors will be at 2:30 PM at Willamette National Cemetery.
Harvey was born July 1, 1926 in Temple, Oklahoma to Dellie and Lavina (Osborn) Hunt. He served his country in the United States Army during World War II and was honorably discharged on December 6, 1946. He married Mildred White on July 12, 1947. After WWII, Harvey took advantage of the GI Bill and received training in auto body. In the early 1960s he opened his own auto body shop in Medford, OR. He and his family ran the business until he sold it in the early 1970s. Harvey and Mildred settled in the Gresham area in the mid 1970s.
Harvey loved cars: hot rods, show cars, motorcycles and dune buggies. During the 1950s he built his own hot rods. His love of cars was something he was able to pass on and share with all four of his sons. Harvey also enjoyed RVing and travelling. He had a 40 foot Silver Eagle that he converted into an RV. He and Mildred would travel to Arizona annually, spending up to six months out of the year there and eventually purchasing a home.
Harvey was preceded in death by his brothers, Herman and Andy Hunt and sister, Mary Damon. Harvey is survived by his wife, Mildred; sons, Dean Hunt of Medford, OR; Joe Hunt of Gilbert, AZ; Rod Hunt of Boring, OR; and Scott Hunt of Gresham, OR; brother, Robert Hunt; sisters, Patsy Lane of southern Oregon; Jewell Plunk of Central Point, OR; Betty Hunt of Gresham, OR; Loraine Flisram of Boring, OR; Edwina Kerr of Eagle Point, OR; 10 grandchildren and 11 great-grandchildren.
