She attended Immaculate Heart Grade School and later graduated from Washington High School, where she began to cultivate the warmth and kindness that would define her life.
On June 24, 1948, Jacqueline married the love of her life, James Bobzien. Together, they purchased their first home and built a beautiful family in Northeast Portland, welcoming three daughters: Valerie, Leslie & Cathryn. Later a move into a larger home brought, Janelle, Diane, and Carolyn. Jacqueline was a devoted mother, pouring her heart into nurturing her daughters and creating a loving home filled with laughter and warmth leaving behind a legacy of love and cherished memories.
Jacqueline's life was a tapestry of creativity and generosity enjoying her role as wife and mother. She spent 26 years sewing clothes, canning fruits all summer, and tending to her vibrant garden of a thousand plants and flowers, which was a testament to her nurturing spirit. Her artistic talents shone through in her hand-painted candlesticks and Ukrainian eggs, each piece a treasured keepsake for her family. A passionate cook and baker, she delighted in preparing an array of holiday cookies at Christmas, sharing her creations with neighbors and friends, embodying the spirit of hospitality.
In addition to her family life, Jacqueline dedicated 16 years to working in administration at Portland Public Schools and volunteered for 30 years at Emanuel Hospital, where she lovingly washed hair for senior patients. Alongside her husband, Jim, she contributed her time at the Saint Vincent DePaul food bank, reflecting her unwavering commitment to serving others.
Jacqueline was a woman of many interests, from collecting antiques—such as clocks, salt and pepper shakers, and English tea cups—to traveling with her husband across Europe, creating lasting memories with each of her daughters on those special trips. She enjoyed weekends filled with card games (Hand & Foot and Bridge), laughter, and the company of friends and family, always making everyone feel welcome.
