

Jacqueline Mae Burns, 72 of Portland OR, passed away on Wednesday, November 12, 2014. She was born on July 20, 1942 in Portland, Oregon to Lawrence and Mildred (Bell) Burns. She graduated from Madison High School in 1960 and received her bachelor in education from Portland State University in 1964. She was a school teacher at Buckman Elementary in SE Portland for 33 years, retiring in July of 1997. She was a member and past president of Alpha Delta Kappa, longtime member of Parkrose Community Church and volunteered at Portland International Airport. Jacqueline was an avid Trailblazers fan and had been a season ticket holder since 1976. She enjoyed traveling which included time spent at the family cabin at Lake Merwin.
Jacqueline was preceded in death by her brother Dennis Burns in 2001 and her sister Jean Pettit in 2009. She is survived by her nephews Frank Pettit of Milwaukie OR, Scott Pettit of Fairview OR and Kyle Burns of Santa Fe NM; nieces Stacie Hofmann of Gresham OR, Autumn Burns of Portland OR and Elena Thrower of Sacramento CA and several grandnieces and grandnephews.
A Celebration of Jacquie’s Life is planned for Saturday, January 17, 2015. From 12:00 Pm to 3:00 Pm at the Kennedy School Gymnasium at 5736 NE 33rd Ave Portand, OR 97211. Contributions may be made as donations to Medical Teams International at www.medicalteams.org or to Snowcap Community Charities at www.snowcap.org. Arrangements entrusted to Bateman Carroll Funeral Home in Gresham, Oregon.
