Jacqueline “Jackie” Gloria Metcalf (Steele), age 72, passed away unexpectedly and peacefully in her sleep on Sunday, June 8th, 2025 at her residence in Gresham, Oregon.
Jackie was born on April 13th, 1953 to her loving parents, Jack and Gloria Steele. She admired her parents and the morals and examples they instilled during her upbringing. Jackie grew up in Parkrose with her sisters, with whom she shared a special bond. She was often found in the green house with her dad working side-by-side. Jackie was a 1971 graduate from Parkrose High School and enjoyed dancing as a Bronco Hi-Lite for the school. She married the love of her life, Charles “Chuck” Metcalf on July 26th, 1975. During their 33 years of marriage, she was a supportive wife and whatever Chuck was interested in, Jackie was along for the ride be it motorcycle rides, beach trips or late night dining out. Chuck’s untimely death left her missing him and their companionship. Jackie retired from a fulfilling career at NW Natural where she excelled as a hard worker and made many lasting friendships. Jackie was very handy and loved to help others with a task, there was little that she couldn’t fix. Her pride and joy were her three daughters who she continuously supported with love, compassion and friendship. She was fortunate to welcome grandchildren and they filled her life with happiness. Jackie spent her retirement years caring for her grandchildren, spending time with her daughters and sisters and tending to her yard and beautiful flower baskets.
Jackie is survived by her three daughters and their spouses- Rebecca “Becky” Gray (Jared), Carrie Bailey (Dan) and Kayla Ivie (Jefferson); her eight grandchildren- Logan, Lydia, Kale, Jonah, Addison, Haisley, Kieran and Wren; her four sisters- Sharon DuFresne, Cindy Kuhn, Kathy Pomante and Michelle Kent; and her many nieces and nephews. Family meant everything to her. Jackie’s laugh, fun loving spirit and generous heart will be remembered and she will forever be missed.
Family and friends are invited to celebrate Jackie’s life on July 12th, 2025 at 1 pm at Bateman Carroll Funeral Home, 520 W Powell Boulevard, Gresham, Oregon.
In lieu of flowers, donations will be accepted to support Jackie’s grandchildren and their future endeavors. She was their biggest cheerleader and loyal supporter.
