Jim and Sandra bought their life long home in SE Portland and lived there 55 years. Jim was a concrete pump operator for the last 20 years of his life. He and Sandra operated the business in the Portland Metro area. He was most proud of pumping the concrete for the I-205 bridge between Oregon and Washington. He also worked at D&M Wood Products for 20 years, rising through increasing roles of responsibility. He was an avid hunter, once bagging a 7 point Bull Elk. His annual fishing trips to Alaska with good friends were an event he always looked forward to.
Jim was a family guy spending all of his free time with the family. He spent many hours in the garage with me, teaching me auto mechanics, wood working, and how to lose in Ping Pong. He was a great teacher, father, friend, and my best man at my wedding. We started to call him the mayor at the end of his life as he never met someone he could not start a conversation with or gain their vote as a friend.
His infectious smile and laugh will be missed, but he has gone on to his eternal reward and we as a family rejoice in this.
