

A much loved husband, father, grandfather and brother, James Richard York, 64 of Kalama WA, known to all as Jim, passed away on Wednesday, April 17, 2013. He bravely confronted and fought cancer. He was born on May 10, 1948 in Ottumwa, Iowa to Russell and Dorothy (Phariss) York. He graduated in 1966 from Loveland High School in Loveland, Colorado and served as a medical corpsman in the U.S. Army during the Vietnam-era. He married Linda Reinders on May 1, 1971 in Lakewood, Colorado.
Between 1991 and 2001 Jim owned and operated Jim York Construction Inc., building Burger King Restaurants throughout the Northwest. He was a member of the Kalama Krazy Kruisers car club and the Moose Lodge. Jim loved spending time with his family, classic cars (including his prized 1965 Chevy SS), camping, talking politics, woodworking and was an avid Denver Broncos and Washington Huskies fan.
Jim is survived by his wife Linda York of Kalama WA; daughter Amy Salsberry (Chris) of Fredericksburg VA; son Ryan York (Heidi) of Seattle WA; and brothers Russell York of Jackson MS and Gary York of Loveland CO. He was the adored “Papa” to grandchildren Hayley Salsberry, Gillian Salsberry, Alexander York and Greta York and a cherished friend to many. He will be dearly missed by his family and friends.
Funeral Services will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Tuesday, April 23, 2013 at Bateman Carroll Funeral Home, 520 W. Powell Blvd in Gresham, Oregon. Private interment at Forest Lawn Cemetery in Gresham, Oregon.
