

Joy was born July 4, 1932 in Endicott, New York, the only child of John Joseph and Pearl (Riddle) Langan. She was raised and schooled in the town of Sibley, Pennsylvania. After graduating from nursing school she worked her first job as a Registered Nurse at George Washington University Hospital in Washington D.C. It was this training that she used when she joined the United States Navy as an Ensign While working as a Ward Nurse in Pensacola, Florida a young sailor caught her eye and 6 weeks later she was wed to Bobby Joe Timmons on March 12, 1954. From this union they had four children. Bobby served in the Navy for 30 years and due to this the family moved several times until Bobby retired in 1980. Not long after retirement they moved to Georgia to be with and care for Bobby’s mother until her passing. In 1999 they moved to Puyallup, Washington to be closer to family, and in 2010 they moved to be with their daughter in the Gresham area.
Joy developed a love for cooking and shared her talents with family and friends often.
Joy is survived by the love of her life for the last 64 years, Bobby; her children, Pam Massey, John Timmons and Robin Fisher; 7 grandchildren and 21 great grandchildren. She was predeceased by her daughter, Bobbi Joy Timmons, in 2004.
