Lillie Pearl "Pete" Parno

Lillie Pearl “Pete” Parno, 90 of Gresham OR, passed away on Wednesday, March 15, 2017. She was born on August 24, 1926 in Dallas, Texas to George and Ida (Fields) Conner. During High School she taught Morse Code to her male class-mates to prepare them for Signal Corps.

Lillie worked in commercial insurance for over thirty years prior to her retirement. She married August Parno on January 23, 1971 in Fairview, Oregon and he preceded her in death on October 1, 1997. She loved to travel with her husband and was a long time member of Smith Memorial Presbyterian Church. She enjoyed crocheting, knitting, quilting and loved her time spent with family.

Lillie was also preceded in death by her son Cliff Garner and her stepson Ron Parno. She is survived by her son Skip Garner (Marlene) of Gresham OR; daughter-in-law Sharon Garner of Gresham OR; stepdaughters Joyce Foss (Gordon) of Midlothian VA and Elaine West of Troutdale OR; brother Charlie Conner (Jimmie Lou) of Austin TX; seventeen grandchildren, thirty great grandchildren and six great-great grandchildren.

A Public visitation for Lillie will be held from 3:00pm to 5:00pm on Monday, March 20, 2017 at Bateman Carroll Funeral Home, 520 W. Powell Blvd in Gresham, Oregon. Funeral Services will be held at 10:00am on Tuesday, March 21, 2017 at Smith Memorial Presbyterian Church, 2420 NE Fairview Avenue, Fairview OR 97024. Private interment will take place at Skyline Memorial Gardens. Donations may be made as contributions to Alzheimer’s Foundation of America at alzfdn.org.
