

Lori Jean Laureta, age 65, of Gresham, Oregon passed away on Monday, July 1, 2024.
Lori graduated from high school in Dover, Delaware. She earned a Bachelor of Science in Nursing from the University of New Mexico. As a registered nurse, Lori worked at the University of New Mexico Hospital in pediatrics. She worked in a small hospital in Deming, New Mexico in all departments including ER, floor nurse and obstetrics. Lori worked at Home Health Care in Florida. She worked as a school nurse in Oregon and most recently, at the Oregon Health & Science University.
Lori survived a debilitating stroke in 2008, leaving her paralyzed. With the help of excellent medical care, loving support of her husband, and fierce determination, Lori traveled the road to recovery. She learned to talk and walk and returned to a normal productive life.
Lori was an avid scrapbooker. She made numerous albums with family photos and fond memories. Lori was a gifted communicator. She maintained contact with family, friends from nursing school, and past work colleagues. Lori loved children. She coordinated fun activities for each of her nieces and nephews during their childhood years. Lori liked to cook and share food with family, neighbors and service people. Lumpia was her specialty.
Lori is survived by her husband, Michael Fryar; her son, Kevin Fryar; six stepchildren; four surviving siblings, George (Veva) Laureta, Sam (Pat) Laureta, Alice Lewis, and Esther (Ron) Harris; and nine nieces and nephews.
Lori was preceded in death by her parents, Estanislau and Aurora Laureta and her two brothers, Roy and Fred Laureta.
