Meg grew up on a farm. She went to school in Cissna Park, Illinois and in 1968 she graduated in Iowa at Johnston High School, then attended Drake University in Des Moines, Iowa. Meg moved to Des Moines, Iowa in 1962. She moved to Oregon about 15 years and had resided for the last 3 years in Gresham, Oregon.
Meg was married for 26 years to Dodson Benedec. He preceded her in death. Meg loved animals, owning dogs, cats and a pony. She loved going to the beach.

Survivors include her brother Mark and his wife Jackie Swenson, of Sandia Park NM., sister Merrily and her husband Ray Ripley, of Spokane, WA., her best friend Christine Reed and the following nieces and nephews, Cooper and McCall Swenson, Sonja Hagen and Rick Swaney.
