

East county resident Marilyn Ann Jackson, 80 of Portland OR, passed away on Saturday, April 14, 2012. She was born on May 26, 1931 in South Bend, Washington to Edward and Edna (Bachman) Bartlett. She was raised on Parkview Dairy Farm in Clackamas and graduated from Hillcrest High School in Salem, Oregon. She married Earl Edward Jackson and raised her family but later divorced. She has lived in East County since 1971 and has had various jobs over the years that have included being a cook for Albertina Kerr and being a reading tutor for the Portland Public School district. She was an avid reader and wrote poetry. Although she was a mother to three, her generosity and kindness made her a mother to many.
She was preceded in death by her parents, son Valjean Jackson, daughter Ellen Lopez and brother Willie Bartlett. She is survived by her daughter Yevette Hewes of Portland OR; sisters Marion Bartlett of Boring OR and Jennifer and Julie Bartlett both of Lacey WA; brother David Bartlett of Kalispell MT; grandchildren Trino Lopez, Elijah Cunningham, Jillian Klien and Haley Hewes; eleven great grandchildren and one great-great grand-daughter.
A Service of Remembrance will be held at 2:00pm on Thursday, April 19, 2012 at Bateman Carroll Funeral Home, 520 W. Powell Blvd in Gresham, Oregon. Private interment at Forest Lawn Cemetery. Contributions may be made to Legacy Hopewell House Hospice.
