Marjorie Mae Anderson, 91 years of age, passed away peacefully on March 29th, 2016, in Portland, Oregon. She was born on September 8th, 1924, in Eagle Creek, Oregon, to Roy and Lena Munger. She grew up with her sister Florence and Lena as a single mother. She attended Estacada High School, from which she graduated in 1942.
On January 17, 1948 Marj married Virgil Anderson. They made their life and home together in Portland where they raised their two sons Michael and Ronald and were married until Virgil's passing in 2006. Together they enjoyed traveling, especially camping in their fifth wheel and trips to Reno. They enjoyed many creative endeavors both together and apart. Throughout her life she knitted, painted, sewed, cooked and sang. She could help anything to grow and cultivated a beautiful garden. She was an exceptional bowler and often scored over 200 in her league. Playing cards and dice games were a consistent pleasure for her as well. Her greatest mastery may have been in her work with stained glass, a passion she continued for several decades.
Marj became a member of Trinity Lutheran Church December 22, 1957 and was baptized there that same day.
Marj was a kind, patient and nurturing woman, always ready for a little joke and a hearty laugh. She greatly relished her family and was a wonderful wife, mother and grandmother.
Marjorie was preceded in passing by her parents, her husband, and her sons. She is survived by her grandchildren, Corrie Mattison, Chelsea Anderson, and Lucas Anderson. She will be greatly missed.
A Funeral Service will be held on April 15, 2016 at 1pm at Trinity Lutheran Church in Gresham and Interment will follow at Douglass Cemetery in Troutdale.
