A graveside service for Marlene will be held Saturday, March 15, 2025 from 11:00 AM at Forest Lawn Cemetery, 400 SW Walters Road, Gresham, OR 97030.
Marlene was born on April 3rd, 1936, in San Francisco, California, to James and Saima Saul.
Marlene met Roger Hamilton, fell in love, and were married on June 25th, 1955, in San Mateo, California. After marriage, they moved to Corvallis, Oregon, while Roger attended Oregon State to become a forester with the Forest Service. They then moved to the fire lookout tower on Mary's Peak; my goodness, the stories she would tell about that time. After that they lived for a short time at the Alsea, Oregon, ranger station complex before being transferred to the Mt. Hood ranger station in the 1960s and decided to settle down in Gresham, Oregon, to finish raising their family. They attended St. Henry's Catholic Church, where Roger was an usher. Roger preceded her in death in 2017.
Marlene worked at Sears for many years, at DSU and also the Census Bureau. She attended Mt. Hood Community College and got a degree in business while working and raising her children.
Marlene had many hobbies, including traveling around the country with her husband, playing golf, reading, and family history genealogy, which she really loved doing.
Marlene is survived by her three children, Vivian Biornstad (Dan), Brian Hamilton, and Norman Hamilton (Kim). Two grandsons, Joshua Hamilton (Julie), Nicholas Hamilton (Merrisa), a great grandson, and two step great granddaughters. She is also survived by a stepsister Barbara Black of Auburn, Washington, and half-brother Ken Saul of Fort Walton Beach, Florida. Sister-in-law's Carole Ley of Mentone, CA, Jeanne Brown of Hisperia, CA, and Joyce Spray of Green City, MO. Brother-in-law Jack Hamilton (Linda) of Apple Valley, CA, and many nieces and nephews.
She was truly a very kind and loving person, who will be missed deeply by all who knew her. She will always be in our thoughts and never forgotten.
