Mrs. Rohrbough (Miss Aizawa) , sadly it is too late for me to tell you what a wonderful teacher you were! I attended your 5th grade class at Binnsmead. 1963,1964. Your class was SO MUCH FUN! I remember the Hawaiian songs and the hula dancing and teaching us Hawaii history.
I still sing one of the songs to my Granddaughter today. You were a major impact on improving my failing academics, I was still reeling from our move to PDX from Seattle, maybe you saw that , but your wonderful teaching presence and style got me to want to attend your class! Im 70 now ,but your influence stays with me always.  Much love to your family, i know they miss you. My only regret is not having the opportunity to tell you in person.
BTW one of my daughters teaches 3rd Grade in the PPS.

My Mother and MaryAnn were roommates at Marylhurst, many years ago. MaryAnn and Dale are extremely kind and they have been wonderful role models. 
My favorite memory is from around 1971. We visited MaryAnn and Dale at their Damascus home and my sister or me and their kids caught a garter snake near a creek behind the house. We excitedly brought the snake inside the house and my Mom or MaryAnn were frightened and threw their drink!

I have known The Rohrboughs since Steph & I were in 3rd grade.  MaryAnn was like a second mother.  My fondest memories of MaryAnn is her constant beautiful smile & her awesome collection of jewelry. I could hardly wait to see what jewelry she was going to be wearing every time I saw her!! She knew I loved it & would flash that beautiful smile at me! She will truly be missed.  ❤️

Only good memories of your Mom...I remember when all of you girls and Mom's came to our house at the Beach and she had to have her picture taken under the "Save the whales, eat the Japanese" sign.  Always a smile on her face and a kind word for everyone.

I shared a memory in the very beginning but I don't see it coming up here so I am sharing again just in case something happened to it.  Mary Ann and Dale were ever so kind to me when my husband passed away 15 years ago.  They took me to lunch often, stayed in touch frequently and I knew they were always there for me.  Mary Ann was a loving, caring friend and she meant a great deal to me.  May God hold you in his hands always and  you will rest in his peace, Mary Ann.   You  will remain in the hearts of your loved ones for ever.

I, too, taught with Mary Ann at Menlo Park in the David Douglas district. She was very nice, and I loved her distinctive laugh. 
She lent me an understanding ear when I had problems.
As I looked at photos accompanying the obituary it was clear that she loved people, especially her family. My condolences to all of you.

Mary Ann was my supervising teacher when I did my student teaching in the spring of 1967 in  her fifth grade class  at Clark Elementary School in Portland.   I could not have asked for a better situation.  Her positive example of what a teacher should be remained with me all these years.  I used many of the activities and procedures I learned from her in my own classroom .  One was the daily Proverb. The students always looked forward to that,  and would mention it when I saw them years later.   Mary Ann was the most kind, caring and helpful teacher I have ever met.

I taught with Mary Ann at Menlo Park School from 1984 to her retirement in 1995. I remember Mary Ann always had a big smile on her face and was a happy and friendly staff member. I moved up to 2nd grade when she retired and moved into her former classroom. She had such great ideas for supporting her student's learning. I was eager to follow in her footsteps with some of these ideas. Mary Ann loved her student's and was very dedicated to teaching them to read. She did it well and was requested to tutor former students after she retired. I know she was very proud of her family. I can still see Mary Ann with her big smile, coming down the hallway when retirement was near. She was so excited to begin this next phase of her life. I am very blessed to have worked with Mary Ann. <3

Mary Ann was a childhood friend from kindergarten through grade 12 at St. Anthony Girls School.  We have fond memories of her:  good student; fun friend; Sodality member; and we lived close enough in Wailuku town to walk home together after school.

So glad Mary Ann attended several of our Class of 1958 reunions and the Las Vegas All-Classes reunion three years ago with Dale.

Rest in peace and aloha, Mary Ann.  Sincere sympathy to your `ohana.

Mary Ann and I taught next to each other at Binnsmead School.
My daughter, Michelle, was one of the flower girls in Mary Ann's wedding.
I visited with her family in Hawaii.
Mary Ann  was wonderful and thoughtful person and I learned much from her.


Maryann was a neighbor when we lived on Maui in Wailuku.  We went to Saint Anthony School and I walked home together with her and her brother Herman.  I remember that she was preparing for college and mentioned many of the institutions she thought were A+ and wanted to attend. She was kind and thoughtful and very prepared for what life had in store for her! It is with my deepest sympathy that I extend my warmest condolences to Herman, Gwynne and her entire family!  Me ke Aloha Pumehana!
