Born in Phoenix, Arizona, to Frank and Jeanne Card, Mike was raised in Troutdale, Oregon, where he developed a deep love for family, faith, the outdoors, and service to others.
A faithful member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, Mike served a full-time mission and remained actively involved throughout his life. He earned the rank of Eagle Scout and enjoyed baseball, track, football, camping, and hiking.
Mike excelled academically, attending Mt. Hood Community College and Ricks College (now BYU-Idaho) before graduating Magna Cum Laude from Concordia University in Portland in 1999 with a Bachelor of Science in Business Management, Communications, and Leadership.
He enjoyed a varied career in business and information technology, with long-term service in software testing and operational support.
Mike gave decades of service to Scouting as an adult leader, beginning in 1996 and continuing through roles as varsity coach, scoutmaster, district trainer, unit commissioner, and assistant district commissioner. In later years, he found great joy in his small hobby farm, tending a garden (a pursuit he once avoided as a child), raising chickens, and keeping bees. He played a key role in re-establishing the Portland Urban Beekeepers and served on its board.
Mike was married more than once during his lifetime. Each relationship marked a distinct season of growth and learning, refining him to the person he ultimately became.
In June 2025, Mike married Juli Edmunds in the Spokane, Washington Temple, rejoicing in a tender mercy that reconnected them after many years.
He was preceded in death by his father, Frank S. Card.
Michael is survived by his wife, Juli E. Card; his daughters, Allison B. Callman (Kit), Elizabeth A. Bernal (Jo), and Katheryn B. Apezteguia (Kaedon); his stepchildren; two beloved grandsons; his mother, M. Jeanne Card; and brothers Donovan B. Card (Aquila), Jeffrey S. Card (Michelle), Christopher L. Card (Kirstin), and A. Sterling Card (Arien).
Mike’s life was centered on his faith in Jesus Christ, his love for his family, his desire to do what is right and service. He will be remembered as a man full of strength, gratitude, faith, immense positivity, loyalty, love and devotion.
Funeral services will be held on Saturday, January 24, 2026, at 11:00 a.m. at The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, 12300 SE 312th Avenue, Boring, Oregon.
