Nikki Sue Cooper passed away early on the morning of February 6, 2016, at her home in Boring, Oregon. She was born on February 25, 1945, in Portland, Oregon, to her parents: Tressie and Shirley (Baxter) Belcher. She attended Sandy Union High School, graduating in 1963.
Following her graduation, Nikki went to work for Aetna; her attention to detail and work ethic contributed her an advancement and being offered a position as manager of the Aetna Field Office in San Bernadino, California. She retired in 1988. Following her retirement, Nikki moved home to help take care of her mother Shirley until her passing in 2000.
Nikki was an active member in the community. She spent several as a volunteer with Oasis teaching local children to read. This gave her immense joy as she highly valued knowledge and education. More recently, she began organizing monthly breakfasts and the 50th Class Reunion for her and her Sandy Union Classmates.
Nikki was an avid reader. She enjoyed traveling, beach trips, learning, family history, and taking care of those she loved. She will always be remembered as the Matriarch of the family, and as a caring and reliable person. She was our family’s glue and “mother hen”.
Nikki is survived by her brother, Royce Dale Belcher; her sisters, Lynda Garner, Mardell Nelson, and Debra Galambos; as well as numerous nieces, nephews, and her beloved friend, Burdetta Foreman. Nikki made a lasting impression on every life she touched. She was deeply loved and will be sorely missed by all.
A “Birthday Celebration” will be held for Nikki on February 27th, from 2-5 pm at her home in Boring.
