

Gresham resident Olga Helena Dvorak Singer passed away on December 7, 2010. She was 100. A visitation will be held from 1 to 5 pm on Friday, December 10 at Bateman Carroll Funeral Home. A memorial service will be held in March at Rosedale Cemetery in New Jersey.
Olga was born in New York City, New York on November 20, 1910. She grew up on a farm in New Jersey and was in charge of all the cooking and baking for her large family. On June 30th, 1934 Olga married Henry Alexander Singer in St. George’s Episcopal Church in Helmetta, New Jersey. They had a house in Jamesburg, New Jersey. Henry passed away in 1987 and shortly after, Olga moved to Pennsylvania and lived with her daughter. Olga moved to the Gresham area where her son lives in 1995.
Olga was very involved in her communities. She was a committee woman for South Brunswick Township and active in the Democratic Party. She was a 4H Leader in Middlesex County, New Jersey. While her children were in school, she was an active member of the PTA. Olga loved knitting, sewing and crocheting. In her later years, she took up drawing. She was the best homemaker: she cooked, baked, canned, gardened, and sewed. She raised her children and was a loving, devoted mother.
Olga was preceded in death by her husband and her sons, William David, Richard Henry and Henry Richard Singer. She is survived by her son, Ernie Singer of Troutdale, Oregon; daughter, Elizabeth Pruitt of Weatherly, Pennsylvania; 8 grandchildren and 5 great-grandchildren.
