

Olive Jeanette Peterson was born on March 8, 1923 in Thief River Falls, MN to Ludvig and Myrtle Lillian Peterson. She was the oldest of five, and spent her young life on a small Minnesota farm in the company of sisters Arlene and Genevieve, and brothers Lester and Byron.
She attended Lincoln High School in Thief River Falls where she played and lettered in sports. After graduating in 1941, Olive lived and worked in Minneapolis before marrying Raymond Harold Weflen in 1943. Ray was drafted to serve on the battle front in World War II. Their first child, Katheryn (Kathy) was born while he was away. After the war's end in 1945, Olive and Ray resumed their lives and welcomed three more children, Geraldine (Geri), Steven (Steve), and Sandra (Sandy).
Olive was a homemaker with creative interests and talents. She enjoyed sewing, writing and painting. In the 1950's her writing talent added many valuable contest prizes to the household. The family lived in Minnesota before moving to Oregon in 1962.
Olive enjoyed life with her husband in Portland, Lincoln City and Gresham before his death in 1996.
She was preceded in death by her parents, her sisters, a brother, her husband, children Kathy and Steve, and grandson, Scott.
She is survived by children Geri and Sandy, brother Byron, grandchildren Randy, Laurie, Mark, Scott, Brian, Kristen, Darrin, Stacey, and Sarah, eighteen great grandchildren, and two great-great grandchildren.
Olive lived with a positive attitude, a grateful heart, and so much love.
