

Ravell Sterling, 23, of Portland passed away unexpectedly on February 5, 2016. He was born in Salisbury, Maryland on January 22, 1993 and moved to Oregon at the age of two with his parents. Growing up in Portland, Ravell was no stranger to athletics and video games. He played for the Alberta Park Panthers through 8th grade and Jefferson High School. He excelled at the linebacker position. Ravell attended Jefferson High School. He transitioned from Jefferson High School to Portland Community College and was working towards completing his GED. Ravell was pursuing a career in the entertainment industry as a hip hop artist while working at Safeway. Welcoming personality, contagious smile, and love of music are just a few of the many words used to describe Ravell. He also loved playing video games –especially 2K. Ravell was preceded in death by his mother, Vanessa Jackson and grandfather, Morris Sterling Sr. He is survived by his father, Morris (Jennifer) Sterling Jr.; daughters, Autumn Sterling and Promise Gbaford; siblings, LaQuisha (Tamika) Jackson, Darriron Jackson, Landron Jackson, Shalisa Jackson; grandmother, Bessie Sterling; grandfather, Lloyd Allen; step-mother, Sheri Rector, foster mothers, Vera Lewis and Patrice Flora; uncle, Timothy (Eureka) Jones; aunts, Meka (Kevin) Sterling, Lanell Sterling, Joyce (Chris) Watson; and companion Jailyn. His presence will be deeply missed.
