

Bob was born on January 20, 1930 in Samsh, North Dakota and was the son of Nels and Louise (Pickar) Sattergren. At age 16, he moved with his family to Oregon where he graduated from Benson High School. In 1956, he enlisted in the Oregon National Guard where he served as an Infantry Commander. He retired in 1986 at the rank of Captain.
On February 20, 1955, he married Shirley Boland in Fairview, Oregon. He worked as a carpenter at James River retiring in 1994.
Bob had many hobbies. He enjoyed bowling, tending to his fuchsias and sunflowers and woodworking. He also enjoyed trips to Lincoln City with his wife, Shirley, watching the Price Is Right and cheering for the Seattle Mariners. He was a past member of the Gateway Elk’s Lodge.
Bob is survived by his children: Bonnie ( husband, Ted) Howser of Portland, Bob (wife, Debbie) Sattergren of Portland, Dale Sattergren of Portland and Cindy (husband, Dennis) Weaver of Danville, Alabama, brother, Douglas “Bud” Sattergren of Gresham and sisters, Mavis Sattergren of Portland and Marlis Ostlund of Keizer along with 10 grandchildren and 4 great grandchildren. His wife, Shirley and brother, Raymond both preceded him in death.
A Celebration of Bob’s life will be held at a later date. Contributions may be made in memory of Bob to Doernbecher Children’s Hospital or to Greater Portland USBC BVL. Bateman Carroll Funeral Home is handling the arrangements.
