

Robert Walter Geary, a long time east county resident, died on February 17, 2010 in Gresham. He was 71 years of age.
Robert was born on December 9, 1938 in Anaconda, Montana and was the son of Joseph and Eva (Beausoleil) Geary. He graduated from Anaconda High School in 1957 and immediately enlisted in the United States Marine Corp. He traveled to California for training and was trained as a rifleman. He received an honorable discharge on June 30, 1958 at the rank of Private First Class.
On December 19, 1958, Robert married Florence Krizan in Anaconda, Montana. They had two children and later moved to California. In 1969, they moved to Oregon where he had resided in East County for over 30 years. Florence preceded Robert in death in 1996 and on September 10, 1999, he married Geraldine Schoen in Portland.
Robert was a huge Nascar fan and spent much of his time watching and cheering for his grandson, B.J., who has been racing since he was very young. He was so proud of his grandson’s accomplishments and simply admired his dedication as a race car driver for charity.
Survivors include: Wife, Geraldine of Portland, son David Geary of Portland, daughter, Debbi Brown of Vancouver, step daughters, Kim, Stephanie and Paulette and brothers, William Geary and Charles Geary along with his care giver and son-in-law, Brad Brown Sr. and 8 grandchildren.
A memorial service with military honors will be held on Friday, February 26, 2010 at 11:30 am at Willamette National Cemetery in Portland, Oregon. Contributions may be made to the Oregon Humane Society. Bateman Carroll Funeral Home is handling the arrangements
