Ron was born in Camas, Washington on April 10, 1937 to Pete and Bessie Rasmor. He was raised in Washougal, and graduated from Washougal High School in 1955. Upon graduation, Ron attended Clark Community College and joined the Oregon Air National Guard. He later worked as an RV Distributor Sales Manager (1960-1968) and a Factory Sales Representative (1968-1975). In his final career, he retired from R&R Associates as an Independent Manufacturers' Sales Representative (1975-2012).
In the spring of 1972, Ron agreed to go on a blind date and met Marlene Haskett-Simpson. The two became inseparable, and were married on November 24, 1972 in Vancouver, Washington.
The outdoors were always a refuge for Ron. He loved traveling and adventuring; including hiking, hunting, taking in fresh air and scenery, and watching wildlife. He enjoyed the nature in his own backyard, where he tended to his fruit trees, gardened, and watched and fed the birds. Ron also loved to try new restaurants in his community.
With an unfiltered sense of humor, this teller of tall tales and reminiscences left an impression on everyone he met. Although he seemed like a bear on the outside, he was a big softie on the inside. More than anything, Ron cherished his family above all else. He found immense pride in his own achievements and the remarkable accomplishments of his family; watching his kids and grandkids participate in sports, grow up, and start their own families, were the true joys of Ron’s life.
Ron is survived by his devoted wife, Marlene Rasmor; his children, Rick Rasmor (Kristy), Brian Simpson (Stacy), Renee Drollinger (Troy), Shawn Rasmor (Cassidy), and Alisa Pelley (Jon); sister, Shirley Holmes; 13 grandchildren, and 8 great grandchildren. He will be deeply missed by all who were lucky enough to be in his life.
A celebration of life for Ron will be held Sunday, March 3, 2024 from 12:00 PM to 3:00 PM at The Springs at Happy Valley, 13160 SE 172nd Avenue, Happy Valley, Oregon 97086.
In lieu of flowers, contributions in Ron's memory may be made to the Rocky Mountain Elk Foundation and the National Audubon Society.
