

Ruth Mildred Larson passed away on July 18th, 2016 in Happy Valley, Oregon. Ruth was born on November 20th, 1918, in Glenfield, North Dakota, to her parents, Edward and Julia Olson. She was the middle child of three children. She attended Glenfield High School, graduating in 1936.
Following graduation, Ruth worked for the United States Government, beginning with one year in Washington DC, followed by employment with the Corp of Engineers in Spokane, Seattle, and Portland. On April 4th, 1943, Ruth married her husband, Lee Larson. They were married for 70 years until his passing in April of 2013. She worked for the Department of the Interior’s Bureau of Land Management for 22 years. During those years, Ruth commuted with her husband Lee, who worked as a Counselor at Benson High school.
Ruth was a longtime active member of Powell Valley Church, and a member of the PTA. She enjoyed crossword puzzles, traveling throughout the United States, historical novels, and writing letters. She will always be remembered for her integrity, generosity, strong work ethic, hospitality, organization, and compassion. She was a devoted woman who loved her Lord Jesus and her family deeply. She lived near her sister and her mother in Gresham for much of her adult life, and she cherished the family meals they had together.
Ruth was preceded in death by her parents, Edward and Julia; her husband, Lee; her sister, Charlotte Gran; and her brother, Edward Olson. She is survived by her children and their spouses, Robert (Jane) Larson, Christy (Ray) Fair, James (Lori) Larson, and David Larson; sister in law, Doris Olson; as well as eight grandchildren and nine great grandchildren. She will be missed.
A Memorial Service will be held on Wednesday, July 27th, 2016, at 2:00 pm at Powell Valley Church in Gresham.
