Wynona Dorothy Hughes

Services will be Monday, November 26, 2012 at 1:00 p.m. at Bateman Carroll Funeral Home located at 520 W. Powell Blvd. in Gresham, Oregon with the Reverend Merle Davis in charge. Private burial will be at Lincoln Memorial Park in Portland.

Wynona was born March 23, 1917, in Thompson, Iowa, a daughter of Manford Carl and Johanna Theodora (Thorson) Evans. She married Arthur Bemis Hughes on April 12, 1936, in Portland.

She was preceded in death by her husband, who died December 5, 2006, and a brother, Francis Russell Evans. Survivors include sons, Roger Douglas Hughes of Normal, Illinois, and Thomas Evans Hughes of Anchorage, Alaska, and granddaughter, Joyce Marie Hughes of Brooklyn, New York.

Mrs. Hughes was educated in Sherburn, Minn., then at Washington High School, Portland. Her family came to Portland from Sherburn in 1932. She was a homemaker and had been a member of Central Bible Church in Portland. She had resided at Gresham Manor since 2004.
