Grandpa and Grandma Padgett are proof that unconditional love for your family and fellow man exists in this age. My whole life I lived at the most, a 15 minute drive from them and never ever saw them raise their voice, or have cruel intent towards anyone or anything. Unless they were as good at hiding it as Clark Kent was at hiding his super hero identity, I don't think they did. They embrace an unconditional love, much like Jesus Christ did during his time on earth.
Grandma; I remember the warmth of your hug and how big it felt even though you were not a big person. I remember the meals you would prepare for Nathan and I when we would come over to spend the night. I definitely remember your no-bake cookies. I remember watching little house on the prairie and looking over to find you and grandpa sound asleep on your lazy boys. I remember when you would bare your testimony at church you would get about two sentences in before you would become overwhelmed with love for your family and community and begin to cry. I remember the day I finally was taller than you. (That was a big stepping stone for my “growing up” days). I will always remember the last words you said to me “ I will love you forever and ever.” Grandma, I thank you for the greatest lesson anyone could ever teach…. Love everyone and never be afraid of it. 
Grandpa; I remember making camp fires next to the camper at high falls with you. I remember some of my best fishing trips were with you at high falls catching nothing but enjoying time with my grandpa. I remember when you wanted to show me the rapids at high falls but I never saw any rabbits. I remember when I was very young you would bounce me on your knee. I still remember the facial expressions you would make while bouncing me would have me laughing uncontrollably. I remember staying up late with you to watch WCW. I remember how you were always in good spirits and could get anyone out of a bad mood. Even when I visited you in Alabama at the physical therapy hospital you were making me and mom laugh, and the Nurses adored you. I will always remember the last word of advice you gave me “ Love your family, love your kids, grandkids, and great grandkids”. Grandpa, I thank for teaching the important lesson that the strongest man in the room may not have the biggest biceps or triceps, but rather has the biggest heart.  
Every time I recap all of the wonderful memories with my grandma and grandpa the recurring theme of love is always in each one. I will never know if that is because I was their grandkid, but it doesn't matter. They left a forever lasting impression on me and I will move forward in the world with their teachings and memories in mind.  I feel it is our duty and honor to preserve their memory by striving to achieve such a personal characteristic. “Love one another as I have loved you”
