

Ms. Barnes was born March 2, 1917 daughter of the late Melton Glanton and the late Ella Watts Glanton. She was a member of Paran Baptist Church in Forsyth. She was a loving, devoted mother, grandmother and great-grandmother. Ms. Barnes loved music and loved to dance. She loved to fill her porch and yard with plants and flowers that she took great pride in. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her son, Doulgas Lamar Barnes; first husband, William Robert Sykes and several brothers and sisters.
Survivors include her children & their spouses, Claudette S. Dumas, Jeanette Pedley, Dorothy Lee & Ed Ridgeway, Raymond & Patricia Sykes, Luther Vernon & Denise Sykes, Thomas “Tommy” Wilber & Linda Sykes, Barbara Ann Wray and David Lamar & Barbara Barnes; 17 grandchildren; 34 great-grandchildren; several great-great-grandchildren and sister, Louise Terkeurest.
Funeral services for Ms. Lucinda Sykes Barnes will be held Thursday, April 25, 2013 at 2:00 p.m. in the chapel of Haisten McCullough Funeral Home. Mr. Larry Huckaby will officiate. Interment will follow in Ramah Primitive Baptist Church Cemetery in Barnesville. Friends may visit the family on Wednesday, April 24, 2013 from 6 – 8 p.m. at the funeral home.
