

Mrs. Alexander was born, March, 27, 1916 in Grand Island, Nebraska, the eldest daughter of John D. and Johanna Koeper Reames. She graduated from Leavenworth, Kansas High School in 1934 and from The Kansas City School of Nursing in 1939 and the Missouri and New York Schools of Nursing in 1940. In January 1943, she and her sister, Dorothy enlisted in the US Army Nurses Corps and served as combat nurses during WWII. They served in England just prior to the Normandy invasion and in field hospitals in France afterward. She also served in Korea from February 1951 until July 1952. For her service Marjorie was awarded two overseas bars, the EANE Campaign Medal and the American Campaign medal. She retired as a First Leutenant in August 1954.While in England Marjorie met a young Captain in Army Intelligence, David Alexander. After the war, they married and lived in Buffalo, N.Y. and later in Peachtree City. Mrs. Alexander was predeceased by her husband, David in 1979; her brothers Bob, and Walter Reames of Atlanta.
She is survived by a sister, Dorothy Price of Alvarado, Texas; neices Susie Reames Messman of Molena, Georgia, Janet Reames Henson of Panama City, Florida, Judy Hellner of Fortworth and Carole Hickok of Pennsylvania; nephews Walter F. Reames, Jr of Atlanta, David Earle Price and Bobby Price of Texas; and dozens of grand neices and nephews and great grand neices and nephews.
The family will receive visitors Monday, August 15, 2011 from Noon to 2:00 PM at Haisten McCullough Funeral Home. Graveside Services will follow at 4:00 Forest Lawn Memorial Park, 5755 Mallory Rd., College Park, Ga. 30349. All friends and relatives are requested to assemble at the graveside.
