Mrs. Mary Ellen Pitts Nichols

She was born in Griffin May 11, 1944, to Clara Causey Pitts and the late Idus Pitts. Mrs. Nichols retired from Springs Industries in 2004. She was a member of the Rock Tabernacle.

In addition to her father, she was preceded in death by her husband, Charles E. Nichols, two sisters, Ida Criswell and Joann Robinson and a brother, Thomas “Buddy” Pitts.

Survivors include a son Kenneth English, Jr. and wife Angela of Meansville, daughter, Kathy Beavers and husband Thomas of Pike County, son, Kevin English and wife Ann of Griffin and daughter Katrina Polk of Newnan; mother, Clara Causey Pitts of Griffin; sister Dorothy Hortman of Pike County. Other survivors include eleven grandchildren and eight great grandchildren.

Funeral services for Mrs. Mary Pitts Nichols will be conducted on Wednesday March 23, 2011, at 1:00 pm in the Chapel of Haisten McCullough Funeral Home with Rev. Mark James officiating. Interment will follow in Mt. Gilead Church Cemetery. Visitation with the Nichols family will be held at the funeral home on Monday from 5-8 pm and again on Tuesday from 5-8 pm.
