Mrs. Patricia Bradley Flynt

She was born in Kingston, GA on March 5, 1918, to Crisp and Dorothy Irby Bradley. She grew up in Dalton, GA with her brother Paul, her late sister Virginia (Geda), and her late brother Claude. She graduated from Shorter College with honors in 1939. In 1942 Mrs. Flynt married John J. Flynt Jr. in San Bernadino, CA. After the war they returned to Griffin. He was elected to the United States House of Representatives in 1954. From 1955 until his retirement in 1979 they resided in Falls Church, VA each year while Congress was in session.

Mrs. Flynt was a member of the Utility Club of Griffin, the Garden Club of Griffin, the Pulaski Chapter of the Daughters of the American Revolution, and the American Legion Auxiliary. She was also a member of Griffin First United Methodist Church. She was a member of the Congressional Club of Washington, D.C.

Survivors include her daughter, Susan Flynt Stirn of Arlington, VA and her sons, John J. Flynt, III of Evans, GA and Crisp B. Flynt of Griffin, GA; daughters-in-law, Susan Flynt and Patricia B. Flynt; 4 grandchildren, Laura Vetter (Kaj) of Alexandria, VA, Anna Breaux (Adam) of New Orleans, LA, Crisp Bradley Flynt, Jr. (Adair) of Athens, GA and Margaret Corrine Flynt of Statesboro, GA; 2 great-grandchildren, Killian Vetter and Zara Vetter; her brother, Dr. Paul Bradley of Dalton, GA. and many nieces and nephews.

Funeral services for Mrs. Patricia Bradley Flynt will be held Friday, January 18, 2013 at 2:00 p.m. at the Griffin First United Methodist Church. The family will receive friends from 12:30 p.m. until 1:45 p.m. in the church parlor. Interment will follow in the Oak Hill Cemetery.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations be made to the First United Methodist Church Christian Enrichment Center, 1401 Maple Dr., Griffin, GA 30224 or Eternal Hope Hospice, Angels of Eternal Hope, Inc., 240 O’Dell Rd., Griffin, GA 30224 in memory of Mrs. Flynt.
