Reba Ann Knight

Ms. Knight was born in Griffin on December 27, 1928, the only daughter of the late James L. Knight and Anna Bell Knight. She attended North Side elementary school and graduated from Griffin High School, class of 1946. Her working career included 68 years service with the former Commercial Bank and Trust Company and United Bank of Griffin where she was known as the Sweet Heart of Customer Service.

Reba was a former member of Kincaid United Methodist Church and a longtime member of Griffin First United Methodist Church where she served on various committees throughout the years. She was a member of the Joy Sunday School class, where she served as president for several years, member of the Board of Stewards, the Finance Committee, Sunday school superintendent, member of the United Methodist Women and the Guild Circle, and enjoyed being a Church Greeter for many years. Reba was a longtime volunteer for the Griffin Food Pantry as well as the Free Medical Clinic.

In addition to her loving parents, she was preceded in death by two brothers, James L. (Bill) Knight Jr. and Thomas Larry Knight. Her brother, Dr. Robert E. Knight and sister-in-law, Brenda D. Knight of Columbia, South Carolina, and sister Ms. Minnie Reid of Griffin survive her as well as her nephew Thomas L. Knight, Jr. of Atlanta and Martha Sue Barksdale of Jonesboro.

Funeral services for Ms. Knight will be held at Griffin First United Methodist Church at 2 p.m., Thursday, May 25, 2017. Ms. Knight will lie in state in the church one hour before the service and friends may visit the family prior to the service at 1 p.m. in the Welcome Center at Griffin First United Methodist Church. Interment will follow the service in Oak Hill Cemetery in Griffin.

In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Griffin First United Methodist Church or to the Spalding County Humane Society: Dog and Cat Rescue and Adoptions, Griffin, Georgia.
