Alice Klose passed away on Friday August 21, 2015 at her home. She was born May 24, 1927 in Grosse Pointe Farms, the only child of Reginald and Clara (nee Young) Dey. Alice was the beloved wife of the late John, who predeceased her in 1995 and the dear mother of Lester Klose. She was the loving grandmother of six. Mrs. Klose was a member of an old Grosse Pointe family. The house she grew up and lived in for her life was built by her father in 1930. Lumber used for the construction was harvested from the family farm in Fowlerville. The lumber was transported to Grosse Pointe Farms, milled and kiln dried at the construction site. According to Lester, a drought was occurring and rain never fell while the house was under construction. Much of the intricate woodwork in the home was reclaimed, with permission, from the site of a razed Lakeshore mansion. Mrs. Klose was a member of and volunteer for the Grosse Pointe Historical Society. She had a pet cat and was a contributor to the Michigan Humane Society, A memorial service will take place 2 pm Wednesday August 26, 2015 at the A. H. Peters Funeral Home, 20705 Mack Avenue at Vernier Road, Grosse Pointe Woods. The family requests that memorial contributions be made to the Wounded Warrior Project .
