Ann Clancy Kratochwill was born March 26, 1932 in Olyphant Pennsylvania and entered into rest December 8, 2014 in Grosse Pointe Woods at the age of 82. She graduated from Olyphant High School in 1949 and then attended nursing school at the Mercy Hospital in Scranton PA, earning her RN degree in 1952. She worked at Mercy Hospital in Pennsylvania and Beth Israel Hospital in New York City prior to being commissioned as a Second Lieutenant in the United States Air Force as a Nurse Corps Officer in 1954. She was stationed at Parks Air Force Base in Dublin, CA, from November 1954 to November 1956, where she met her husband Michael, a dentist who also served there in the Air Force as a Dental Corps Officer. They were married on December 1, 1956, at St. Patrick's Church, in Olyphant, PA, and they settled in Detroit. She later worked at Detroit Memorial and St. John Hospitals in Detroit, before leaving the nursing profession to raise her four children. She proudly renewed her nursing career in 1985 at Saratoga Hospital in Detroit, retiring from there in 1996. She was a devoted wife and mother and always put the needs of others before her own. Always kind and compassionate, Ann will also be remembered for her wonderful sense of humor and warm demeanor. Her proud Irish heritage fueled her engaging personality, and her Catholic faith guided her throughout her life. While raising her four children, Ann was also very active as a volunteer in her church and community service organizations. Among this work included activities as the President of the Women's Auxiliary to the Michigan Dental Association and the Activities Chairman of the Parish Council at Our Lady Star of the Sea Catholic Church. Ann and her husband Mike enjoyed playing tennis and travel. In her retirement, she enjoyed reading and spending time with her grandchildren. She is survived by her husband of over 58 years, Michael (Grosse Pointe Woods) and their four children Michael Kratochwill (Needham, MA), Paul Kratochwill (East Grand Rapids, MI), Patricia Lindauf (Glastonbury, CT), Eric Kratochwill (Ann Arbor, MI), their spouses and six grandchildren, William, Maire and Edward Lindlauf (Glastonbury, CT), and Thomas, John and Owen Kratochwill (Ann Arbor, MI). She is also survived by her brothers Robert Clancy (New York, NY), Patrick (Patricia) Clancy (Sparta, NJ) and William (Astrid) Clancy (Las Cruces, NM) and several nieces and nephews. Ann was preceded in death by her brothers James (Rose) Clancy, John (Mary) Clancy and Joseph (Katherine) Clancy.
