Anna Alphonsine Monfils

Anna Alphonsine Monfils (nee DeRiemacker) passed away on June 22, 2019, at the age of 89. A daughter of Florent and Josephine (nee DeSutter), Anna was born in Detroit on September 27, 1929. She attended Denby High School in Detroit. Anna and Donald would have been married 70 years this summer. Their wedding anniversary date is July 30, 1949. They were married at Guardian Angels Catholic Church in Detroit. After their wedding, they made their home in Detroit, then Grosse Pointe Woods, then East Detroit (today known as Eastpointe). Anne was an active parishioner of St. Veronica Church and the 8-K Homeowners Association. Beloved wife of the late Donald. Loving mother to Denise (Michael) Maihofer and Brian (Geralyn) Monfils. She was a cherished grandmother to Danielle Maihofer, Stefanie Maihofer, Katherine Monfils, and B. Addison Monfils. Anne was sister of the late Florette and the late Albert. A visitation will take place on Tuesday, June 25, from 2:00 to 8:00 pm with a scripture service at 7:00 pm at A. H. Peters Funeral Home, 20705 Mack Ave., Grosse Pointe Woods, 48236. Anna will lie in state on Wednesday, June 26, at 9:00 am until time of Funeral Mass at 9:30 at St. Veronica Catholic Church, 21440 Universal, Eastpointe, 48021. Interment will take place at Sacred Heart Cemetery in Roseville. Memorial donations may be directed to the Wounded Warrior Project, PO Box 758517, Topeka, Kansas 66675.
