Dear Allor family, my name is Kristine Allen, and I have just lost my older brother, Ed Klumpp, with whom Bernie played in a band in Grosse Pointe in the late 1960's. I was just looking up Bernie to tell him of Ed's passing, and found this site - but I'm sure they're together now, jamming with Mike, who was the drummer in Ed's band. I remember Bernie well, playing lead guitar with the band in our basement, and the way he played lead riffs behind his head. :) I remember Mike, too, and how devastating it was when he passed on. Please accept my condolences on the loss of Bernie. Hugs to all of you!

Bernie was more than a friend. He was family. Many of those late night service calls my husband chad had a privilege to be on with him. Helping him. Bernie mentoring him. My kids knew him well. My heart breaks for his family. If there is anything you need please feel free to call us (586-354-7859). I can't tell you how sorry I am to hear of his passing. We will be praying for you all. He was an amazing man with so many talents. We really lost an Hvac/r legend as well as a great friend.

I miss you, Dad. I knew when you were still here how lucky I was to have such a great dad. No matter how often I talk to you, we still managed to be on the phone for an hour or End up standing in my kitchen for two hours talking about whatever. My friends are familiar with the excuse "oh my dad stopped by "when they had been trying to contact me for two hours. i miss sitting In grandma's room at Sunrise , with you and grandma , Giving her a hard time for Goldbricking. :) Nothing will ever be the same.

What a loss! Bernie has been a part of our family since he and Dee-Dee first became a couple almost 40 years ago. There are so many memories of a sweet, smiling, smart and unique guy who was one one-of-a-kind. Can't imagine family dinners, holidays and get-togethers without you, Bernie. You naturally made everyone feel comfortable. I so admired your deep and constant love for your wife and family and the wonderful zest and enthusiasm for life that was such a great part of you. You will be missed so very much. We'll love you always. Till we meet again...

Bernie and I go way back to grade school, Farms Pier, Tether ball, Mercury outboard motors vs. Johnson and Evenrude. I watched him play several times in his basement on his fender mustang. He and Robin Wright made quite a pair. He will truly be missed. My best to his family and close Michigan friends.

I had the pleasure of meeting Bernie and DeeDee when I first started dating my husband in early June 1979. Bernie was such a unique,interesting,and kind hearted man.Always a joy to talk to.I will miss our political discussions,and his way with words. Of course, I did have to help him with phone manners. He would always call the house and say"Is he there?" No hi Michele, how are you? Nothing... So one day I replied" Is who here Bernie?" He appeared stunned for a moment, Then replied" Oh,um, Hi Michele, how's it goin', Is Mike around?'.. From that day forward he always said hello first. Bernie, YOU will be sorely missed by all of us whom always loved,admired, and enjoyed your presence.Rest in peace my friend...

Bernnie and I were raised on the same street in Grosse Pointe Farms. I am mad that He was taken from us so young. Bernie was a good hearted, good natured, well meaning man. He was somebody I worked with and spent alot of time with. We were in the same business together, along with the Hanna brothers, also from the neighborhood. Bernie had an uncanny ability to figure out and solve electrical problems that we couldn't. It was a gift he had. He was always helpful in personal situations as well. He enjoyed visiting me in Colorado years ago .He had an incredible memory. He could remember things that happened years ago as though they happened yesterday I will miss my friend dearly. When I moved to G.P. in 1964, Bernie was one of my first friends I met. Not only do I remember I the times on his boat, but also the times we would listen to him playing his guitar in the basement. Bernie had the first blues albums I ever heard and he could play along with them at 14. I remember the nights at the Grande when I knew Bernie wanted to get up on stage and jam. During the last couple of years he never lost his passion for music. My last memories of Bernie are how excited he would get at listening to my old albums and tapes saying "I gotta get the band" to play these! You'll be missed.

I havent seen Bernie since I left Michigan some 25 years ago. Despite all of those years, I have vivid memories of Bernies easygoing nature (someone called him a "free spirit," and that definitely rings true) and his great guitar playing. In fact, my earliest recollection of live music is of Bernie just tearing it up at a teen dance, with his brother Mike on drums, circa 1967 or 68. I was lucky enough to get to know him around that same time through his good friend Mike Ambrogio. I happened to be with Bernie and Ambrogio on a boat near Harsen's Island the day Elvis died. We stopped for gas and Bernie heard the news on the radio inside the store. When he came back to the boat, his exact words (I've never forgotten this) "Hey guys Elvis checked out," and we took a moment to reflect on the untimely death of The King. It somehow seems absolutely appropriate that Bernie (the top notch rock guitarist) and Elvis (the King of rock) are, for me, forever connected in this way. Bernie was a great guy, an awesome guitar player, and a truly original human being.

God Speed Bernie, You will be missed by all.

We were friends at Kirby Elementary School. I will miss him.

Bern was such a great guy; he always was there to help whenever I asked for assistance. He was so sharp in so many areas, he could remember the date of a big snow storm we had back in the 70s and I would just shake my head. Listening to him play the guitar always amazed me; he could listen to a song on the radio and play it in a matter of minutes. He was very special and it was a privilege to have known and spent time with him. It is so very sad to see him leave us so soon but we will all be together someday and I look forward to that. My sincere condolences to his loving family.

Bernie was a kind and gentle man who loved to help you out of a jam when needed. He would not only fix your problem but also instruct you on why and how it was done. His ability to remember dates was unlike anyone else I've ever met. He could listen to a song without his guitar in his hand and start naming the chords that made up the song. He was not only just a member of my basement band, he was the most talented person of the group - we will never be the same without him. If he called and said he was coming over to look at your furnace, he may or may not make it as scheduled. For band practice he ALWAYS showed up early - he loved to play music - I will always treasure the memories of us playing. He also had a passion for hydroplanes and speed boats. Three of us went to the races in Madison In, the last two years, another memory I will treasure and ponder often. His amazing daughter and wife were by his side and fighting for him but God decided he wanted to hear some new tunes in heaven. God speed my friend - there is a void in the world without you.

My family bought a house on Manor Avenue in 1959. It was shortly after that where I met "Spike" & "Mike" where Bernie was Spike and his little brother Mike. A wonderful and loyal friendship developed throughout the next 53 years. Bernie was my Electrician, Heating and Air Conditioning man as he was brillant in these disciplines. But most of all, he was my dear friend. Bernie loved Hydroplanes and was a member of In Cahoots and South Paw Racing Teams, two highly sucessful racing boats. Bern was also my guitar teacher although, even he, could bring me only so far. His talent for music was truly at the professional level. When Bernie met Dee Dee he was in deep love for the rest of his life and the two created a beautiful family. When Kristy was born, I can still hear Bernie telling me the name they had selected, that's Kristy with a K he said proudly! Bernie respected money very much and held it tightly. When Bernie and Mike received their allowance, Mike was on his way to the store to blow it, Bernie headed upstairs to his bedroom to stash it away! I will remember Bernie fondly and often the rest of my life. Please rest in peace dear friend.

Who remembers your phone number and address from three decades ago? Who knows every part number of a washing machine, furnace, hot water tank, air conditioner, stove, no wait anything with moving parts? Who could you count on when the swimming pool pilot light wouldnt go on and the water was too cold for the grandkids that will be over in just a few hours expecting to jump in the pool? Bernie! Who else could you tip with lunch, dinner or a six pack? Hot water tank leak, oh no worries, Ill be there in an hour, not only with a new one but let me help you carry the old tank up the stairs and out the door! Cant you just hear him saying, "Well just rig this baby up and it will be running in no time!" What other genius took the time and explained things with such passion to help you understand what he was doing, and yet you nod your head in agreement without having a clue. Bernie! We all have stories over the years that we often repeat at every family dinners, picnics and holidays with joy and laughter "This here carrot cake!" "Dam flying rats!" "Bees..not at my park!" "Lets go for a boat ride!" Ops missed that step. "Canadian Mountains with Dee Dees family.am I crazy." "How much is the gas here?" Never a thought as we drained every gallon in the Blue Metal Flake-Check Mate that had far more horse power than necessary! Who was blessed with being part of a mans life that was musically gifted, a mechanical genius, a free spirit, and a great humanitarian? Each and every one of us. As we hear the song Free Bird Bernie well think of you. "If I leave here tomorrow would you still remember me?" How could we ever forget you!

The last time I saw Bernie was at an Area 51 gig. All smiles and insisted on buying me some suds. Great, great, wonderful guy. In a better place no doubt. Rock on Bernie! We'll all miss you!

I'm so very sorry for your loss. I've known Mr Allor since 3rd grade and he was a cool guy for a kid. As I aged I got to know Bernie on a better adult level, turns out he's a great man. He took me in when I was down. Great man who will be missed. Love you mr A, say hi to my grandpa up there and give him fishing tips

I will always treasure our friendship since Junior High days. You are finally at peace. But you are leaving behind a wonderful wife, Dee and sweetheart daughter Kristy and (2) great sons Steven and Anthony. Leaving my love and support xoxo
