HARLA, Bessie A. February 6, 2010 Age 87 Beloved wife of the late Joseph. Dear mother of Jan Novara (Gasper), Frank (Rosemary) and James (Nancy). Loving grandmother of Amy, Michael, Bradley, Sarah, Kevin, Joseph and Rebecca. Great grandmother of Matthew and Stevie. Sister of Agnes Wiegand, Martha Arnold, James Zmolik and the late Mary Zmolik and Frank Zmolik. Loving aunt to many nieces and nephews. Visitation Tuesday 6-9 pm and Wednesday 1-9 pm with a Scripture Service 7 pm at A. H. Peters Funeral Home 20705 Mack Ave. at Vernier Rd. Grosse Pointe Woods. In state Thursday 9 am until time of funeral Mass 10 am at St. Peter the Apostle Catholic Church 19851 Anita, Harper Woods. Interment Resurrection Cemetery. Memorial contributions may be made to the Capuchins 1820 Mt. Elliott, Detroit, MI 48207 Mrs. Harla loved spending time with her grandchildren, playing games and cards. She especially enjoyed playing Bridge and euchre. Solving crossword puzzles was another favorite pastime. She would want to be the first to arrive at a St. Patrick's Day party. She always looked forward to visiting with her family in Port Austin and the Carlin nieces and nephews in Frankfort, Michigan. Owning and using her computer opened up a new world for Mrs. Harla. She could be found sending and receiving emails from her family. Mrs. Harla enjoyed playing games on line especially Bejeweled. Mrs. Harla was described by her family as having a happy heart. She was always young at heart, and was independent. She showed courage while facing many medical challenges.
