
Carl McMahan passed away on February 16, 2014, with his wife by his side, at St. John Hospital at the age of 49. He was born on June 9, 1964 in Grosse Pointe, Michigan; son of Carl and Margaret (nee Valentino) McMahan. Carl was employed as a machinist at Orlandi Gear. He was a selfless man who would do anything for anyone in need. His love of dogs was evident as he fostered bull mastiffs through Bullmastiff Rescuers, Inc., and the American Bullmastiff Rescue Association. Carl was also known for his sense of humor and sarcastic wit. He served our country proudly in the 101st Airborne of the United States Army from 1984 to 1987. Mr. McMahan is survived by his loving wife Anne (nee McDaid). He was proud of his children and stepchildren Amanda, Joseph, Melinda, Rachel, Alayna, Tyler, Lindsey, and Caitlyn. He is survived by his parents and siblings Mary (Steven) Seltz, Paula (Mark) Beattie, and Sharon (Ken) Gosinski. Visitation for Carl will be held on Saturday from 2:00 until 9:00 pm, and Sunday from noon until the time of his funeral service at 4:00 pm at A.H. Peters Funeral Home, 20705 Mack Ave., at Vernier Rd., Grosse Pointe Woods. Reverend Dr. Larry Austin will officiate. Carl will be buried with military honors at Great Lakes National Cemetery in Holly.
