
Carl Robert (Bob) Quarnstrom, 73, died on Friday evening December 6, 2013 in a automobile accident on Lakeshore drive in Grosse Pointe Farms, MI. He was born to Ivar T Quarnstrom and Daisy Barnett on May 27, 1940 and raised on a farm in New Baltimore, MI. In 1962 he married Karen Belanger, graduated from the University of Michigan and enlisted in the Marine Corp. Basic training was in Quantico VA after which he was stationed at Camp Pendleton, CA where his daughter Carla was born. In 1965 he was honorably discharged from the service as a Captain, moved his family to Grosse Pointe, and started at school at the Detroit College of Law. In September of 1966 his daughter Dana was born. Only 3 weeks later he suffered severe injuries from an airplane accident where he spent many months hospitalized. He returned to Law school and graduated in 1970. He enjoyed sports cars, squash, golf, and rarely missed watching U of M football. He was connoisseur of food and wine and became a great cook often entertaining family and friends. He loved travel and enjoyed many trips to Europe and the Caribbean. He was a long time member of the Detroit Athletic Club, the American Legion and a former member of the Lochmoor Club. He is survived by his wife of 51 years, his daughter Carla (Stuart) Reed and Dana Quarnstrom, Grandchildren Emily and Alex Reed. His sister Anna Ivara, of New York, nephew George Gonyaw, niece Kimyla Gonyaw and Great niece KiSea Katikka, and predeceased by his son Christopher (CC) Quarnstrom. Visitation Thursday 4-8 pm A.H. Family will receive friends at 10:30 am Friday until time of Funeral 11:00 am Grosse Pointe Memorial Presbyterian Church , 16 Lake Shore Drive , Grosse Pointe Farms.
