Charles (Chuck) Kosmas was the youngest of six siblings born in Detroit, Michigan on January 25th, 1933 near the end of The Great Depression. Shortly after graduating from Eastern High School in 1951, he started his business career with the opening of Jolly Boys Superette groceries with his brother Socrates. This marked the beginning of many business ventures throughout his career. His career was paused in 1953 when the US Army called him to Korea for the Korean War.
Upon returning to the US he resumed his business. In 1957, he positioned himself to attend a double date arranged by fellow church member to meet Patricia Galanos. A courtship ensued and in 1959 he married Patricia (Pat). He started a family in 1962 with the birth of Steven followed by Charles and David.
He was proud of his Greek heritage and association with the Assumption Greek Orthodox church which his father Nicholas helped establish. Additionally, he was a Shriner and a 32nd Degree Mason. He loved his automobiles especially if they were large shiny black sedans.
Chuck is survived by his loving wife Patricia of 63 years , sons Steven (Betty), Chuck and David (Tracy). He is predeceased by his siblings: Socrates (Mary), Paul (Vicky), Europe, Peter (Mary) and Florence (Gregory). He is also survived by 7 grandchildren: Jacqueline, Connie, Niko, Costa, Marcus, Stephanie and Tia.
